3D visualization artist Elizaveta Bulatova has a way of capturing emotion through space. Her visual study of the House in Tróia, originally designed by Bica Arquitectos, feels less like a technical project and more like a quiet meditation on light, texture, and atmosphere. Facing the Atlantic, the home sits within a landscape of dunes and native plants, where architecture and nature exist in effortless balance.

“I always start by trying to feel the atmosphere of the project,” Bulatova says. “Even though this is a copy of the House in Tróia, I used it as a study to explore how space, light, and texture can create a mood. Everything began with emotion.”

At first glance, her renderings capture the soul of the southern coast, the warmth of sunlight, the hush of open space, and the stillness that remains after a sea breeze passes through. Light is the true protagonist here, shaping not just what we see but what we feel.

“Light is everything for me,” she explains. “It sets the tone and brings life to the image. I wanted to capture the soft, warm light of the South: calm shadows and a peaceful rhythm. I use light to tell the story of the space rather than just show it.”

That story unfolds through subtle, tactile details. The walls, pale and porous, seem to absorb the day’s glow. The sand-colored textures and natural materials create a dialogue between interior and landscape. Bulatova’s secret lies in her meticulous attention to imperfection.

Light is everything — it tells the story of the space.

“I like to add small imperfections that make things feel natural: tiny scratches, fingerprints, uneven reflections,” she says. “It’s about finding a balance between technical accuracy and artistic emotion.”

Her tools, like 3ds Max and Corona Renderer, allow for precision, but it’s her artistic intuition that transforms the render into something human. This balance between craft and feeling is what makes her work so distinctive.

“Good communication is everything,” she says of collaborating with designers and architects. “I try to understand what the architect wants people to feel when they see the space. Then I use light, color, and composition to translate that feeling into an image. It’s a creative dialogue.”

For Bulatova, a successful visualization is one that stirs emotion. It’s not about perfection—it’s about presence.

“A successful render should make you feel something,” she says. “Not just look at it but almost sense the air, the silence, or the warmth of the place.”

Though inspired by an existing project, Bulatova’s House in Tróia feels entirely her own, a personal interpretation of southern serenity. “I fell in love with the simplicity and the atmosphere of the House in Tróia,” she reflects. “I wanted to recreate that mood in my own way.” Every frame was crafted by hand, with no AI involved – just skill, sensitivity, and time.

“A good render should make you feel, not just look.”

Through her lens, the House in Tróia becomes more than architecture; it becomes an emotion. A space where sun meets silence, and simplicity feels like luxury.
